Movies:
On Saturday I went to see the "Incredible Hulk" with my father. My father and I often go to the movies together on Saturdays, especially during the summer when all the big budget flicks hit the silver screen.
Marvel Studios first produced the "Hulk" back in 2003 starring Eric Bana but that installment was so bad they decided to re-do the entire franchise only five years later! I think it took longer for movies about 9/11 to come out! Marvel's overall goal is to put out hero movies one by one, starting with "Iron Man" and "Hulk" and then next year moving on to "Thor and Captain America" and then "Iron Man 2" and then in 2011 "The Avengers" will come out matching all of the heroes together on one squad.
So far in both "Iron Man" and "Hulk" the movies have had secret endings in which one character from each film is approached by a "S.H.I.E.L.D" agent talking about the possibility of a team being formed. Samuel Jackson makes an appearence after the credits in "Iron Man" and Tony Stark himself appears in a cameo role after everything is said and done in "The Hulk"
Aside from the excitement of seeing Robert Downey Jr. again the "Incredible Hulk" can't be labeled more than average at best. It is far better than the first try and keeps the viewer entertained throughout. Which I suppose is all you can do with a character whose primary storyline is that he's big, green and angry.
It's not the best summer movie of all time---but if you've seen all the rest and you want to get out of the house, than the "Incredible Hulk" and Ed Norton's version of Bruce Banner won't let you down too much. It's an action packed adventure with an intriguing story-line from start to finish. Probably better than Fantastic Four 1 and 2 but worse than X-Men 3. So gauge it like that!
Did I mention that I STILL want to see "Kung Fu Panda?"
Who's bringing me???
Television:
Celtics and Lakers baby. The Celtics are up 3 games to 2 and actually could've taken it all in the last game on Sunday night. Down again by as many as 19 and they came back for the second straight game. The Lakers only won this game because of a critical steal by Kobe Bryant in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. Had Bryant not made that steal and had Pierce made his shot to tie the game up, the Lakers would've been scrambling and the Celtics would've been rolling on high. The interesting thing about Basketball is the point scoring because when one team scores two points-it's so deflating to the opposing team that the other team starts making dumb mistakes. The team that scored the original two points ends up getting six more points on stupid play from the opposing side.
If the Celtics had tied the game after being down all game long I think the Lakers would've been in such disbelief that they'd lost a big lead two games in a row that it would've made them scramble to find something to stop the Celtics run leaving the Celtics feeling confident and poised to score four more points on LA.
That's all I got for today! Was it interesting? Heck no. But darn fun to write!
